Absolutely Positive
Simultaneously heart-wrenching and life affirming, Absolutely Positive is an honest, moving and occasionally even funny portrait of living with HIV. From an initial pool of 120, acclaimed filmmaker Peter Adair selected 11 unique individuals to share their incredible experiences with the camera. Ranging in age from seventeen to sixty, these unforgettable characters represent an extraordinary variety of lifestyles, ethnicities, geographic regions and sexual orientations--attesting to the ever-present reality that AIDS spares no one. From Johnnie, a young Asian-American man who discovered he was gay, had sex for the first time, and tested positive all in one year, to Doris, an African-American mother who found out she was positive after her 6-month-old son was diagnosed with AIDS, these stories not only allow us to get inside one of today’s most poignant issues but also provide us with an opportunity to confront important questions about our own beliefs, fears and prejudices.
