A Queen Is Crowned
The Queen's Coronation took place on 2nd June 1953 following her accession on 6th February 1952. This documentary captures the whole historic event in glorious Technicolor. The Coronation is a day of celebration and pageantry as well as an official religious ceremony that has remained virtually unchanged for hundreds of years. The film follows the day’s events including the ceremony at Westminster Abbey, where the Queen was crowned and the subsequent procession through London’s streets where the Queen met her new subjects. The only Technicolor documentary of Queen Elizabeth II’s Coronation, it is narrated by Sir Laurence Olivier and also uses the talents of the London Symphony Orchestra for the accompanying soundtrack.
