A Father's Choice
INSPIRED BY A TRUE STORY...CHARLIE “MAC” McCLAIN enjoys the free-spirited lifestyle of a modern-day cowboy until tragedy strikes. Charlie’s ex wife JESSE is killed, and Charlie must come down to the city to help take care of his two estranged daughters, CHRISTINE (10) and KELLY (13) who he hasn’t seen in years. To make matters worse, Christine has witnessed the shooting and is severly traumatized. Charlie is awarded temporary custody for three months by Child Services and the girls reluctantly move out to his ranch. The girls are in total shock when they arrive at their messy, new home in the middle of nowhere and it is reflected in their coldness to Charlie. Charlie receives assistance from SUSAN SHAW, a Victims Advocate who encourages Charlie to try and connect with his daughters, despite all their problems. In an effort to make them more comfortable Charlie begins building up his house, and spending time with the girls, but he refuses to change his lifestyle and Susan has serious doubts whether Charlie is truly ready to become a father. Charlie sticks with it, but it is tough. Christine is plagued by nightmares and refuses to speak until he and Chris bond over a baby colt. In between connecting with his family, Charlie begins to romance Susan and prepare to re-enter the rodeo circuit he used to be champion of. Everything seems to be going well until Susan’s sister, GAYLE, reverses the LA decision and Charlie must fight for his kids in court. In a dramatic finale the girls decide they want to stay with their father and he is awarded permanent custody.
