Winter of the World: 1914

S1 E1: At the turn of the century, the empires of Hohenzollern, Habsburg, Ottoman, and Romanov dominated Europe. Most were centuries old and keen to stamp out any threat to their power. The assassination of Franz Ferdinand by a Slav nationalist started a chain reaction that inevitably led to conflict. The fate of the world was decided by just a small handful of men as World War I began.
