Twenty-five Santa Clauses

S4 E12: The drovers plan a mid-summer Christmas party for a sick boy whose foster father is not the Santa Claus he pretends to be. Because it's the middle of August in the middle of Texas, drovers Wishbone and Mushy are mighty surprised when a man named Bateman, dressed as Santa Claus, enters their camp. Bateman says he and his wife have adopted a sickly Mexican boy, Danny, who is certain to die before the next Christmas. Deeply touched, the drovers invite Bateman, his wife and Danny to their camp, start gathering presents for the lad and even decorate a tree. When Rowdy Yates is hurt trying to capture a wild stallion for Danny, a doctor is summoned. The doctor is also asked to look at the boy -- over the violent objections of Bateman. Danny is pronounced okay and Bateman is denounced for what he is--a con man. But then the doctor discovers that Mrs. Bateman is very ill and the drovers give her what is expected to be her last Christmas party. (TV-PG)
