Built to Shred
Solar Shred
S1 E5:
The shred crew takes their green cred one step further with an über eco-friendly episode. Jeff King teams up with legendary skateboard manufacturer Paul Schmitt (a.k.a. the Professor) and together they show you how to connect environmentalism to skateboarding. For one they build an eco skateboard press and construct sustainable skateboards out of bamboo and hemp! They even install solar panels on the Shred Truck, giving Jeff the ability to charge and run tools with the power of the sun! A casual meeting at Bob Burnquist's ranch turns into a spontaneous solar panel shred with salvaged wood and borrowed tools. Bob doesn't disappoint and gets gnar before the sun sets. Then the Shred crew heads to Kramer Junction, one of the world's largest solar farms and BMX bandits Aaron Ross and Jim Bauer turn up the heat in a fence-jumping junk session and water tank wallride party. More solar panels are set up at Professor Schmitt's lush estate (complete with private skate bowl) but it's a bit too perfect so Jeff junks it up with salvaged materials and some historical skate artifacts from Tracker Trucks. King also builds a roll in off his truck that leads across solar panels ending in a menacing launch into the bowl. Pat Duffy, Bob Burnquist, Nilton Nieves, Bruno Passos, Patrick Melcher and Chris Lambert light up the session. Bruno closes out the session with an insane rock'n'roll on the 13' tall plexiglass over-vert "Rad Ramp."
