As Cindi and David's trial looms, their own defense augments. Detective John Waters is hired by the Dowalibys' attorneys to in order to dig up information that could raise reasonable doubt and grounds for their acquittals. Amidst overwhelming media scrutiny, the loss of custody of their other two children, and pressure to refrain from testifying themselves, Cindi and David continue to mourn Jaclyn's death while everyone else focuses on the sensation of the story itself.
