S1 E2: First-time mom Ashlee is diagnosed with high blood pressure, and learns her unborn baby is not receiving enough nutrients and oxygen for development. When fragile Baby Ariah is delivered, she struggles to breathe, and the E.R. team must isolate her and administer IV antibiotics and put her on a CPAP, a device pumps air into her lungs. Phototherapy is used to fight off jaundice and Baby Ariah will need to stay in the E.R. longer than expected. Jacky, 37, is already mother to 3 healthy daughters, but her newborn son, Trey, is severely ill. Immature lungs, pneumonia, and an inability to digest food make him the sickest baby in the E.R.. Strong pain medications allow doctors to intubate and provide Trey with assisted breathing. An IV, and then a feeding tube are used to provide nourishment. Then, just when it seems things can't get worse, Trey shows signs of pulmonary hypertension. As the days wear on, Baby Trey inspires everyone with his fight to survive.
