On November 13, 1996, at a Sheraton hotel east of Los Angeles, 27-year-old Sandra Orellana of Houston, on a business trip with her 33-year-old boss Robert Salazar, went over a balcony and met her death. Salazar maintained that he was innocent of any crime and that the death was a result of a tragic accident.
