S1 E3: Thomas Eriksen pushes Jesper Berg, he wants the Prime Minister to give a specific date for when the Russians are leaving. Jesper Berg gives in to the pressure and promises to accommodate this. He asks the Russians for a date, but they refuse to discuss anything with the Prime Minister until they are assured that the Chechen man who ran down the Russian will be extradited. HM, who now receives great confidence from the Russians, is asked to investigate. The young son of the Chechen man, Iljas, seeks out HM and confesses to the murder. HM doesn’t believe him, and manages to get Iljas to admit that he took the blame to protect his father. HM informs the Russians about the confession, but they don’t believe that it was not a premeditated murder – they are certain it is a political act. HM releases Iljas and promises that everything will work out, but meanwhile Elbek is notified that he will be expelled from the country. When Iljas visits his father in prison he finds him dead in his cell. HM cannot comprehend what has happened and asks his wife Hilde. Hilde is a judge and manages to find out that the government office has rushed this case through. In a newscast that evening Jesper Berg announces when the Russians are leaving.
