Incident of El Toro

S6 E26: A wild bull causes the death of a drover and threatens to stampede Gil Favor's herd. Thunder and lightning make the cattle nervous and a young drover is thrown from his horse, trampled and killed before the cattle can be calmed. This is just the latest in a series of mishaps dogging the cattle drive. Undermanned and overworked, the drovers' tempers are short, and responsibilities weigh heavily on trail boss Gil Favor. To add to their worries, a wild bull appears at the fringes of the herd, spooking the cattle. Gil orders Fuller, an uncooperative drover, to track and kill the bull. Hey Soos accompanies Fuller and they come upon the bull unexpectedly when they are on foot and unarmed. The animal charges and Hey Soos runs, but Fuller is fatally wounded. His death is the final blow for Gil. He resigns as trail boss, announcing that he will kill the bull himself, then return to his home in the east. (TV-PG)
