S1 E4: Snowboard Olympian Spencer O’Brien and Hawaiian Surfer Mainei Kinimaka take us to their traditional territories to contrast a heritage broken in Indigenous Canada versus a heritage preserved in Polynesian Hawaii. Spencer looks for guidance in Sandy Ward and Rose Archie to find her voice as an indigenous leader. Mainei looks to her ancestry to carry their voices and stories into the future in an effort to advocate for the land and the people. This episode is about embracing cultural identity and heritage, and looking to the voices that came before us to find a better way forward.
