Episode 1

It is fifty years since David Attenborough's Zoo Quest series. Then, he went on expeditions to collect animals for London Zoo. Now, he will once again join scientists from the zoo as they embark on the 'EDGE' project. This stands for Evolutionary Distinct, Globally Endangered. These are the animals that are not only extremely rare - they also have no close relatives. The Olm, the Naquita, the Numbat - there's nothing like these creatures anywhere on earth. They're weird, wonderful - and utterly unique. And all of them are tottering on the brink of extinction.
